This story, is about an elite group of teenagers in a hotel in New York City. The protagonist, Luc Laneige struggles with the fact that his father wasn't at his birthday, and naturally his father should have been there but chose to ignore it, and stay with his girlfriend. It was Halloween night and Luc and his four friends were preparing for Luc's big birthday and Halloween bash. Everyone was going to be costumed for his Masquerade. For the past two weeks, Luc, his friends Myla, Tiffany, Thomas and Charles had spent many expensive lunches refining over every detail.

Paintings and students lined the walls with culture and gossip that this school was accustomed to. Students gossiped about the new student who apparently lost his parents in a car crash, he was anemic, an albino and had payed top dollar to be admitted.
